Getting Freebies Online Guide

You already know that nothing comes free in the world we live in and you gotta pay for something in order to have it in your cart. However, in the world known as the cyberspace, there are lots of freebies you could get your hands on, such as free PS 3 and Xbox 360, console games, pics, downloaded movies, laptops, mp3s, magazines, ringtones, even cash, etc.

Excited? But beware, innocent people!! There are some sites that lure you to get your money or private information. You can call it the scam. You need to use your great skepticism and control your temptation not to blur your judgment. Always, always evaluate free stuff offers with a common sense then you should be able to avoid the scam. Just keep in mind that follow a few don’ts below:

Is it REAL??

Some free offers will make you say, “Boy, it’s too good to be true.” Examine the offers if there are any hidden charges or strings attached.

Free but only need to pay shipping and handling

Some offers ask you to pay only the shipping and handling fee. It is fine as long as the amount is reasonable. Just watch out for spammers that make money from charging you unreasonable shipping and handling fee.

You won the prize and we need your checking account number to send your money

It’s too obvious if the offers require you to provide very sensitive information such as credit card number or banking information to claim the prize. Don’t fall for it. Your friends will call you stupid if you do.

Leave your email address alone

Don’t abuse your email address. Some sites collects your email address and sell or rent them to another 3rd parties for profits. Make sure to check their privacy policy before you provide your information. Also, just make a new email address from Hotmail or Yahoo and use the address when you register offers.

Google the site with the word “scam”

If you’re not 100% sure if the offer site is legit, always Google the site with “scam.” You will see people wondering about same in various forums, and find the answer you’re looking for. Remember, Google is your friend.

It’s free, but got a friend called “virus” coming together
Be careful when you download freebies online. It might bring unwanted virus, or malwares and infiltrate your computer without knowing it. Check the file with your anti-virus program when downloading.

Keep those in your mind and look for any red flag when you browse for free stuff. You should find and enjoy the free stuff not the scams. Also, I will post guidelines for each free item here, so come back soon for more information on freebies.
